WEC Legal Rights of Women Quiz Competition 16-10-2017

Women Empowerment Cell (WEC) of Sriram Engineering College Conducted a Written Quiz Competition on Awareness about the Legal Rights of Women on 16/10/2017 Sponsored by National Commission for Women.

Education, an important means to women’s empowerment

* Aim

To create awareness of Women’s Rights in the society and to empower women.

* Objective

• To motivate girl students to undertake activities that strengthen their confidence and make them believe in themselves.
• To promote a culture of respect and equality for female students.
• To make them aware about the guidelines of the Supreme Court and ensure that sexual harassment is treated as unacceptable behavior within the institution and society.
• To inculcate an entrepreneurial attitude among young girls so that they can become “job providers” rather than “job seekers.”
• To conduct seminars and workshops to impart knowledge of opportunities and tools available for women's development.

* Action Plan

• Awareness sessions for all girl students on the Vishakha Guidelines and available safety measures by Women Empowerment Cell members.
• Motivational talks by women achievers from various fields.
• Health awareness session by a gynecologist focusing on common issues faced by young women.
• Seminar on cybercrime, privacy issues on social media, public safety, and appropriate dress code.
• Nukkad Natak (street play) on key social issues to be performed within the college premises.
• Orientation for girl students on using the college’s Grievance Redressal System through the website.
